The "problem" (and I use that word falsely) with Gamefreak and typings, is that they're too creative with their designs, and therefore too unpredictable.
Their interpretations of an idea are often unique, and lend themselves to something that you really haven't seen much of before a lot of the time.
Like the previously mentioned Hydreigon. Before it existed, if you asked anyone on /vp/ to envision Orochi as a Pokemon what would you get? Probably something really predictable, multi-elemental, 9 heads, maybe even a serpent. What did we get instead? An evolutionary line that has heads slowly growing and atrophying until a dominate head is left, tying itself into a "survival of the fittest" theme.
Point that I'm trying to make is, it's easy to envision a really cool typing idea for a pokemon and what it may look like, but GF will almost always give you something you wouldnt expect. It might be dissapointing at first, but overall it's creative and for the best.
