That's a free turn of SD AND a free attack, in either scenario.
It's turn ground into a basically unusable attack, because the risk of losing moves would be too high.
Having to spend a turn using an attack that isn't EQ to make them suceptible is more than reasonable.
Also, how could you NOT notice a giant bolder with arms is floating.
(I know this logic doesn't hold up with certain other items, but c'mon.)
