Z/X2Y2 will probably work on the old 3ds but I can see it having features that will only work in the 3DS. B2W2 being released on the DS when the 3DS was around was a good sign. As for the next generation, I think it'll probably be "new" 3DS only.

Seriously doubt Nintendo will make any high-profile games be exclusive to the New 3DS.
DSi also had new features and more powerful specs, and was advertised to be getting exclusive games.
In the end, it turned out like this, because it's just a terrible decision from the point of view of sales to cut your userbase like that.
So stop worrying and acting like your old 3DS is instantly going to be useless.

I really fail to see why they can't just make Xenoblade work for the normal 3DS, and just make you buy the circle pad pro.
If the N3DS is slightly more powerful, turnin off the 3D on the normal one should be enough to avoid framerate drops.

Oh boy, so much different 3ds's now that it got me confused, before all this I was just gonna buy normal 3ds XL, but now it looks like its not an option anymore, I really liked the new customizable 3ds, but I really want XL size.

So how was the new 3ds XL different from the old XL? bigger lighter and better cpu, what else? And does the new 3ds XL have customizable menu/back&front panels?

Guise what should I do now, what should I buy?

That doesn't even work.

And X/Y's 3D is AWFULLY optimized. I sometimes can do triple battles with no lag, but as soon as I turn the 3D on in a single battle, boom, lag. That should be 4 Pokemon rendered at once and two kinda flat backgrounds, and yet it lags. I've no idea how they programmed the 3D.

At least it's not as stupid as MGS3D, where you get the exact same laggy performance even with 3D off.

Same thing, I had ds XL back in the days and I traded it for my 3ds normal, ever since I felt that this thing is too small, I got used to this but still, bigger would be nicer, I think its time to upgrade for the new 3ds xl, then again the new 3ds customizable is so cool, really difficult to choose which one to buy..

the poly count on the poke is enormous, especially the round ones. jigglipuff has more polygons than link in the game remake.

Yes, but you could have two Jigglypuffs and 4 more Pokemon in a triple battle (of course, no 3D) and the game most likely won't lag. But it still lags most of the time in a single battle with 3D, that's my only point.
