DSi was a failure with almost no reasons to buy it so they discarded that idea.

Here they are already making Xenoblade for the new 3DS to make sure the userbase is big enough so they can push their shit with Pokémon Z.

No it's because xenoblade on a regular 3ds would be a fucking slideshow. The 3ds at the moment has shit specs, but pokemon games are never that demanding. Also, explain why a business would severely limit the number of customers able to purchase their games when they wouldn't even be making any more money?

Because Pokémon is the portable system seller. Nintendo always use pokémon as the way to promote their portable console. Making the new Pokémon exclusive would be a way to sell more consoles.

Fuck people even buy TWO consoles and two games just so they can get every pokémon each generation. Nintendo doesn't make much money from software, third parties prove this by not releasing a shit in their consoles. Hardware is their forte thanks to their exclusives IP, and pokémon is the most important one.

Look at a game like Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate or Smash Bros. The 3ds as is is capable of producing stunning graphics and performance(for a ds) but GF is just incompetent. Look at Diamond/Pearl and how shit they were. Yet if you then look many years down the line BW2 play much better. It's all proof GF just aren't very good at getting used to and utilising new specs and hardware.

This unsettles my significantly. I paid 200 euros for the fucking xl which apparently was not strong enough to run the games. Now they want to launch a new console that could be necessary for the new pokemon games.

Jesus christ, only xenoblade has been confirmed to be exclusive and that's because it's a port of a wii game, hence the normal 3ds' specs aren't good enough. Pokemon games are not hardware demanding at all, GF hasn't even been able to use the 3ds to anywhere near its capabilities, I can assure you Z will not be exclusive.

It has a niche public, that kind that buys anything that has to do with it. That's why Monolith is making a new one for Wii U.

Putting him in Smash is a way to publicy the game and the saga, the same way most of the people got into Fire Emblem thanks to Marth and Roy in Melee. If people like the character and find out a new game for a new 3DS they may be interested in buy it. In fact just by announcing the character THE SAME DAY the announce the new console is a way to make sure people will find out about the new hardware even if they are just interested in Smash.
