So now that Nintendo have announced a new 3DS revision, what's the likelihood that Pokemon Z will be exclusive to the new models?

GameFreak likes money, sales = money, more system compatibility = more sales

There will probably be advantages to playing it on the new model but it won't be exclusive to it.

That's like saying a new colour is a new model. The XL adds nothing except a bigger screen to gameplay but I'll give you the 2DS. In my eyes, there are three models, the Original/XL, the 2DS and the New 3DS/XL.

They could have easily delayed Black and White a few months and released it as a launch title for the 3DS. Game Freak were even the first developers (outside of Nintendo themselves) that got their hands on the 3DS dev kits.

Then the game would not be a good representation of what the 3DS can do. Not that X/Y is, either, but I digress. We would have the second gen all over again, where it would be plain it was developed for the previous system, but compatibility with the new one was shoehorned in so they wouldn't be left behind. Actually, B/W sort of feels like that anyway, only in the other direction.

If you compare the New 3DS to the Gameboy Color it does become a little more likely, Crystal was an exclusive after all.

I think Gamefreak is gonna go the BW2/DSi-enhanced route on this.

Z or whatever the next game after ORAS is will be playable on 3DS/2DS/3DSXL, but will have enhanced features on the N3DS.
