Good things:

>very few new Pokemon
>exp share makes the game extremely easy, but if you turn it off, you're extremely underleveled and it makes the game difficult. there is no middle ground unless you know exactly when to turn off the exp share.

Overall the games are very enjoyable, but they're nowhere near perfect and some of the flaws are too glaring for some people.
