Obviously, it's all a bit of speculation, but it's plausible.
Metagross is explicitly stated to greatly improve in Speed, hinting at 100+ base, while Mence is kinda obvious to get the M-Garchomp treatment anyway.
It's also obvious we will get move tutors with ORAS, the elementary aren't really farfetch'd then. Obviously, we'll have to wait and see,but it makes sense so far, especially when we really do get Hoenn dex in VGC 15 and these two will be facing each other all the time.

Salamence's fire blast and EQ can't OHKO Metagross as they are, in non-mega form. Sure, Mence will get more atk / spatk, but Metagross will also get more def / spdef.

Megagross will remain a check to Mence, but not necessarily a counter.

Elementary = Basic, the lowest level
Elemental = comprised of one of the elements, typically fire/water/air/earth, but also hydrogen, iron, etc. (in which elemental means its not a compound; water is not elemental, O-zone is)

With no Aegislash in the mix, Brick Break seems like the best coverage option instead of EQ. Flyign+Fighting have great coverage. Depending on stat boosts, you round it off with Fire Blast to get rid of annoying Ferros and Skarms.

Could be. There's a couple of nichemons that will have to run certain things to check it, but it will ultimately depend on what the definitive sets are. You'll have to also run EQ to check both Diancie, whos boths STABs are SE, can be run physical, special, or both, and will be getting a Mega; and Metagross. A 41 point Attack boost would let a Mega Salamence's STAB Aerilate Extreme Speed hit just as hard as Choice Band Talonflame's Brave Bird. And it would still be free to DD or spam coverage to its heart's content.
I doubt SalaMe is getting more than +30 Attack, but that's the sort of power we could be dealing with.

Running Frustration versus Return doesn't matter worth a dime on simulators, and running Frustration on the cart means you have to actively lower Salamence's happiness with the bitter health items.

Facade is only at high power when Salamence is affected by a status condition, the rest of the time you're running a 70 BP move. Retaliate only gets the boost when an ally fainted the previous turn, but it's highly situational and only having 8 PP max is painful. Might as well stick to Return.

Flying/Ground still has good coverage, Brick Break is kinda weak and doesn't hit Heatran nearly as hard.
Depending on how big a boost Mega Salamence gets, it might not even need Brick Break.

I have found (by asking on vp mostly) that many pokemon sites have lots of lingering and untested wrong info like the out-of-battle abilities (Pressure), in-battle abilities (Sheer Force) or EV yields. Swagger is +2 because the increased attack is a penalty as much as it is a benefit, since Confusion damage is based on the physical attack stat of the victim. Because a Special attack increase is only a benefit to the recepient of Flatter, it's not a free +2.

Actually surprisingly it'd be near impossible to fuck up Sceptile's stats. Just look at them, he's actually one of the most balanced things out there, its problem has always been they haven't been quite high enough.

They would have to do something absolutely insane like +50 def and s.def in order to mess up M-Sceptile.

Honestly it seems like it's going to be a similar situation as back then, as Mence is still a very versatile pokemon, and they say they'll make him more versatile. If it has a bunch of things to abuse and take down its counters for a particular set, then it'll be over-centralizing and be banned, I think. Intimidate + defense boost + DD + movepool seems very powerful, and will probably turn a lot of counters into checks or revenge killers.
