So, how exactly does Eviolite work? Does it double the base stat? or the stats after EV/IVs? I was thinking that if it doubled stats after EVs, can't you potentially put 252 in each defense by putting 126 in both, then dumping the rest in HP for maximum bulk? I was thinking of doing a cosmic power clefairy with magic guard, would it just be better to put them all in defense?

So if I have a Porygon2 with 250 Def, it'll have 500 after carrying an Eviolite

I would assume it adds to the base stats because most eviolite sets tell you to invest in HP before anything else

Its only 1.5. so if it had 250 originally it would have 375 while holding the item.

I can't believe this.

It multiplies by 1.5 the actual stat.
IE, Dusclops have both defenses sitting at 130.
Without any EV's, at level 50 its actual defenses are 150.
The eviolite boost make that 150 hit 225. Simply as that.

Actually, no. Eviolite Chansey almost don't use HP and throw everything in her physical defense and the rest whatever suits better the team.
Dusclops in the other hand NEEDS HP investment since its base HP is awfully low.

I never really got the HP/Defense/Special Defence stuff.

I mean HP never seems to be good to invest in, when you could instead invest in both defenses.

Seems like Embour is what you get in that case, a high HP thing that can't take a hit.

Overall bulk is basically calculating the area of two rectangles, with the lengths of both rectangles equal to your pokemon's HP, the width of the first rectangle equal to its Defense, and the width of the second rectangle equal to Special Defense. Viewed in this way, it is apparent how important increasing HP can be.

I don't get the exact mechanics, but generally you'll have the highest defenses when your defense and hp are as close as possible to each other, but there are exceptions.

For example, with eviolite, thanks to the 1.5 multipler on defenses, investing in defense can provide greater returns than investing in hp.
