Alakazam can't live without a sash, and even though it's mega is great, it's leaving yourself wide open when you leave it out, and mega.

Oh sure, Alakazam has 120 speed, but priority + other things can easily take care of it.

It was UU for awhile at the beginning of gen 6 with the mega stone banned to BL for being too stronk. Base form Gardevoir is in no way OU material.

Too slow to really function in OU without a scarf. It was very good in UU for its short stint there.

OU material through and through. The Taunt + 3 attacks set is my favorite.

It can't justify use in OU since it needs a sash to revenge kill most of the time, but needs a Life Orb to get the kills it needs. This makes it harder to switch in, although it doesn't need to worry as much about scarfers. It's great in UU.
>Mega Alakazam
Doesn't get strong enough to justify the mega evolution. 175 special attack and 150 speed sounds great, but pure psychic and low defenses leads to it being revenge killed by anything with priority. Trace is nice but rather gimmicky in OU. It was WAY too strong for UU though, and it was rightfully banned.
>Gallade
It does well in RU, but nowhere else. It's too slow, its typing is awful, and it needs to boost before doing anything significant. It needs STAB priority.
>Reuniclus
It's not as bulky as it wants to be, and 125 special attack doesn't make things wet their pants anymore. It was tossed out in favor of Aromatisse as a Trick Room setter.
>Gothitelle
A shitmon with a broken ability which makes it OU and great in ubers. Shadow Tag is the single most broken mechanic GF ever introduced for singles. Gothorita was actually used in UU for awhile to circumvent the Gothitelle ban, which ended up having Shadow Tag as a whole banned from UU and below.

So in summary, Psychic type is shit.

Because GF is afraid if they buff the Psychic type any things will go back to the Gen I days, When Psychic was utterly broken, Alakazam was the best thing since sliced bread,and Mewtwo could face roll an entire team with ease.

"Trick Room sweeper" is something I would call a mon with less than 60 base speed. Malamar has 73 which is obviously not meant for Trick Room by design, but by necessity.

Face it, Malamar is just garbage by design.

Not bad, I like it.

How about Reuniclus and Gothitelle? I don't know if they actually need a boost since they seem to be competitively decent, and they outclass Beheeyem, but mega ideas are always fun.

I was thinking Psychic/Fighting for Reuniclus, with moves that focus on punching given it's pokedex abilities. Gothitelle I'm not sure about, Psychic/Dark would be a terrible type combo, Psychic/Fairy would make it too similar to Gardevoir.

What other Psychics could use a lift? With ORAS around the corner I think Grumpig could do with some attention.

I wish Clear Body would ignore Burn and Paralysis' stat reduction. The most common way of reducing a Pokemon's stat in competitive just happens to be those two status effects and Clear Body does nothing to prevent the reduction.

Psychic is also outclassed offensively and defensively by Fairy

Fuck fairies, all they did was shit over Ice and Psychic types, the only reason to use them now is MegaGarde and Gothitelle for wallbreaking

Gothitelle is one of the best stallbreakers in OU.
You conveniently forgot Mew, Slowbro, and the Lati twins.
Honorable mentions also go to Victini and Espeon, which are definitely usable in OU.

gonna have to go ahead and disagree with everyone posting about m-alakazam. we already know about its amazing stats, but trace is an absolutely great ability as well. a /cpg/fag (who let's be honest are the only ones who know what they're talking about when it comes to smogon) recently topped the ladder with a m-zam team, partly due to situations including:

>tracing heatran's flash fire and getting boosted on the switch
>tracing swift swimmers to outspeed rain teams
yes, it's super frail so you have to play carefully with it, but it gets a lot more done thanks to those amazing stats than people give it credit for.

Almost all of those would be better off without Psychic typing. The only positive is the ones with Psyshock get a STAB pseudo mixed option. The pure Psychics would be better as pure Fairies, and Victini/Celebi/Jirachi are actively hampered by their Psychic typing.

Okay these would probably be better off without it

All you're basically saying is that good pokemon can overcome their flaws (bad typing/ability/movepool/stats/etc) if they're good in other areas. Same with Psychic types, it's not an optimal typing but it has its uses.

The Knock Off and 4x U-turn weakness does suck, but a Poison-weak Grass type having SE STAB against Poisons and Fighting types that can usually slaughter it like Heracross and Infernape is great. No one expects a STAB Psychic OHKOing those pokemon from a Scarfed Celebi. Now if only it got Psyshock to get past Blissey. The physical set sucks.
