In my opinion i think the final evo would look better with an entire wooden ship as a type of hat, rather than just that lookout stick flag thing
i'd have to see it to be totally sure that itd look better though, but this artist definitely did better than most of this deviant art tier stuff

There seems to be some duplicates, so I guess that means two forms to vote on.

-I like the four-legged shirmp evo better than the bipedal one. Though the middle stage should foreshadow this better (that was my biggest gripe with Dewott).
-Those bats seem pretty much the same except the one on the right's wings are purple on the inside and its tail is purple. I like those. Nothing a little time in Gimp wouldn't fix.
-The dog on the right looks better for all except that hat and little bone. Just remove the white line and bone and it's good.
-The tree line needs pupils. Little wooden ones carved like a jack-o-lantern.

Other than that these are pretty good. my favorite's the fire lizard

So I was kinda thinking about a pseudo that isn't a dragon type or some boring thing like that and I dunno.
I came up with this design for one.
It's a mushroom monster...thing.
I based it a bit off of a knight with the head and "chest plate."
It's Poison Dark
Sorry if it doesn't fit with your "Australia" theme, but I just wanted to add this shit.

Does anyone feel like doing a specially defensive Rock type? Maybe with Magic Bounce or Filter as abilities? Maybe make it somewhat specially oriented attack-wise as well? Probably with a diamond/crystal motif. Special Rock types definitely aren't too common. I know I've always wanted one (Gigalith should have been).

Can another drawfag try drawing them or colouring them? I like the designs, but I think there's something missing on the final stage, like the rest of the body is too bare. I think it needs some more vine details like what's on the tail. Maybe swap the current chest piece for a flower.

We wanted a theme and the magical girl/Kamen Rider/kaijuu trio was better than what we could come up with for an Australian theme outside the actual animals.

Since it would be best to do a theme that has something to do with Australia, how about celestial beings? Australian folklore delves into space and what's beyond our plane of existence, the Dreamtime. I think Starters based on constellations/astrological signs would fit. Will come up with examples soon.

Either way, most starters have some sort of legend behind them. Australia doesn't exactly have those sorts of folklores (outside of Dreamtime tales, though I'm not sure if we could make a lot out of them).

Alright these are the ones I have come up with:

We'll start with the Fire line. I've tried coming up with a line which would coincide with the Japanese zodiac theme of Fire starters and constellations. It could be based on Draco, a constellation originating from Greek astronomy, and could coincide with the Snake in the Zodiac. However, this may come at the cost of losing Thorndle as a stater. This is why I am cautious about this line the most.

The second one is Grass. I have made this one based on prehistory a la Bulbasaur. It is based on the constellation Chamaeleon, which was discovered by the English. The constellation has no mythology behind it, so perhaps another one can be incorporated into it.

Finally, we have the Water line. It could mix some aspects of Aquarius and Cancer. Or one over the other.

Please excuse my inexcusable paint-scribble.

My idea is a three pronged stingray/shuriken. I could see it having Skill Link with Water Shuriken, Pin Missile, and maybe Icicle Spear.

Water/Poison type, with decent Physical attack and Special defenses and above average speed.

I'm a bit unsure on an evolution. I like the design as is. If it did have an evolution I could see it turning into something five pronged instead of three pronged.

As far as colors go I'm thinking something akin to Swampert's color scheme. Blue main body, yellow underbelly, and a yellow/orange accent on the rings around the wings and the circle on it's back. Blades being the standard white grey you see on the likes of scyther's blades.

Just a small nitpick but every Grass-type starter is based on a dinosaur of some sort. We can keep the final and middle designs and sugar glider aesthetic, but could we get away with changing the first stage a little to meet the starter trend?

Also, regarding the first stage, Chespin didn't really start off as anything particularly prehistoric, but became that way later on, so I think a similar thing happening here would be fine, although personally I'd still kind of prefer if we used something more like >>20824793 or >>20831102 for the first stage

What's going in the next survey? I'd like to have another one up by sunday at least.

Starter theming? Whether or not we even use a theme for them? What themes? I'd need more to use than the toku theme for this. 4 options minimum would be great.

Maybe try and get a pokemon confirmed? Just an ordinary mid dex pokemon. Chuck a couple of base designs with a short paragraph outlining the design.

Ok, I decided to try my hand at designing a pokemon.
I'm not a very good artist at all, so the end result looks shitty, but I'm hoping that if anyone likes it enough they might actually draw a decent version of it.

I based it off of the Sawfish.
I think it would make a good water/steel type.
I have no clue what its name could be.

What do you guys think?
