Why do they want to add a tier under NU and not put a tier in the middle to clear out all of the things rotting in the BLs lately? For example:

OU isn't going to change until there are enough broken mons to fill an entire tier. As of now there isn't enough at Deo-N's level to justify it being in the new OU. UU is already made up of a lot of very OU viable mons anyway. Stuff that's specifically banned from UU don't gel with the tier but aren't used enough to be considered OU even if they're perfectly usable in OU as it is right now.

If I can remember the tierlist correctly, it mostly contained things like NFE Pokemon, early-route shitmons like Furret, and just general shitmons like Castform, Mothim, Luvdisc, etc.

It's actually very fun. A lot of playstyles, like weather and Trick Room, are very viable.
Sneasel and Chatot are probably the best mons in the tier, Chatot will probably be banned (I hope, because fuck Chatter).
Also Lilligant fans rejoice, because that mon is godly.

Slow Start. It's just too hard to get around. Nobody with any kind of a brain will let you stay in, and one of the most used Pokemon, Poliwrath, has Circle Throw.
Also, lack of recovery in a very hazard-prone meta (all the Defoggers suck) hurts as well.

Dusknoir really just sucks that much. Sure, it's got Defense, but its HP stat is abysmal. It has good Attack but none of the moves needed to abuse it. And with Sneasel shitting all over the meta it's really just a liability.

If you can make it work, good for you. Usage rankings are only determined by how many other people used that mon in a tier at a decently weighted ranking.

I mean, TECHNICALLY nothing does what Slaking does. It hits extremely hard with Retaliate and Giga Impact which nothing else has a reason to use. OU is completely devoid of hard hitting Normal mons so there's nothing that does its very specific job better. That doesn't mean its job is even close to desirable for most teams, and to be honest I find its use to be extremely limited to the point of being a waste of a team slot.

Protect isn't the problem. Not many things run Protect and those that do are usually too bulky for Slaking to break down anyway.

The problem is that Slaking is completely dead weight against stall (because they can use the free turn to recover off whatever he did) and also dead weight against any team with a setup sweeper, because you can't send him out ever unless you want to get swept because you let M-Pinsir get a free SD.
