They just have no variety to their movepools, it's either all grass, normal, and poison moves. You'll only find shit if you're trying to incorporate fire/electric/flying/etc. attacks, while at least ice/poison types have a varied amount of subtype combinations and moves.
Meanwhile pretty much every fire type learns solar beam, energy ball, or even grass knot
