Way to fucking go, Game Freak, We could have had an awesome Ganon homage with this guy and he would have made Gen V a bit more memorable, but instead you went the lazy route and made him another Fire/Fighting.

Its design is fine, but they really should have made it a Fire/Dark pastiche of Ganon instead of a crappy Infernape clone.

They had a Journey to the West thing going, as I understand it. Infernape is Sun Wukong, Emboar is Zhu Bajie. The outlier is Blaziken, who would have to be Sha Wujing but doesn't seem to have much to do with them thematically.

But it's not really a "clone" if the only things they share are typing, some overlap in movepool (as expected of Pokemon sharing a type), and mixed offensive potential. They don't even go about the last of those the same way.
Dark would have been sweet now that is has Sucker Punch, though.

Fire/Dark would have been a beastly combo since Houndoom is the only other Pokemon packing that typing, and it would have been made even better since Emboar can now learn Sucker Punch, which would've made up for his piss-poor speed.

I wanna like this big piggu, but as it stands, he's a slab of pork chops who can't compare to Blaziken or Infernape.

Man, I love Emboar to bits and it's one of my favorite starters but it got fucked over hard. If it does get a Mega, it should get something good.

For real, I'd love for it to get Reckless as a mega ability, but it'd probably get Thick Fat knowing Game Freak.
