Think of it this way;
With the current "one individual, unique Mega stone per Mega evolution" model, more Megas will create a fuckton of new items that will be harder and harder to manage.
But this is the problem that will only become an issue by the last installment of gen6.
So there is a chance that early gen7 will introduce a new trinket to relieve this system of this burden. No matter what it will be, I can cautiously assume that it will have relation to stone evolutions that are kept on the shelf right now.
