I don't think so. The writers created a character (Alain) for special episodes so he could utilize Mega Evolution.

That's the writers excuse of saying "It doesn't suit Ash".

In the show itself, Ash will probably say something like "I don't have to Mega Evolve my Pokémon to defeat another Mega Evolution".
