Everything was still in one piece, but the circuitry and power cells were far from safe to use again, having burned lines into the unarmored inside layer of her coat. Her PDA, pokeballs and jamming device were banged up and singed a bit, but were otherwise probably still functional.

That village didn't look like much at first, more like a few buildings scattered around a hole. It proved to be more than a hole the closer you got, it was an entire city. It all stretched downwards in a cone shape to meet at the very bottom in what looked like a distant arena of some sort.

The city was apparently deserted at these upper levels as was evident from the darkness. Lower down though the sounds could still be heard and strange blue crystals covered everything in a soft radiance.

Up here things were broken and dark, the buildings crumbling away and the crystals at best a sickly looking blackish color while most were out entirely.

The options to proceed were to turn back, move closer to the edge and try to find a way down, or explore here first.

Right, right, listen, I'm sure you'll do fine, just don't be afraid of losing. I didn't say it was okay to lose, just don't think about it. Oh, I'm sure you will. Goodbye, Wally." He pulled Tauros back into its ball, and sent out his Dodrio. He cracked his neck, rubbing the Dodrio behind its closest head. It sat down for him, and without wasting any more time, he mounted it, and running his hands through the feathers around the base of its neck, he guided it yet through the streets of Olivine, breaking out into a full run as soon as he hit Route 39.
His Dodrio was fast as a car, and it was a matter of hours before he had hit Route 27. His Tauros, while tired, could make one last push, and swam them into Kanto.
Mounting his Dodrio again, he set off towards Celadon City, where Professor Birch had told him to find Professor Oak.

The room past the window was a kitchen, which you would quickly discover after making it in and over the sink. Apparently the owners had forgotten to close the window.
