I posted this a while back:
Pokemon X Megaman Battle Network
Keep pokemon the exact same, but add the 3x6 grid of mmbn.
>Each pokemon has 9 "panels" on their side to move to
>Moves still have the same base power, accuracy, and PP but now have a new stat that tells you the range and area of effect of the move. This gives lesser known moves a chance to be useful. Like flamethrower hits 3 panels forward in a straight line, bug buzz would hit the 3 panels in one column over. Weaker moves like silver wind & ominous wind hit the entire field.
>The closer you move to your opponent, your acc and damage go up slightly, but you also take slightly more damage as well
>Can move one square per turn along with a move
>Instead of just being empty panels, there would be a shit ton of panel types (Fighting in a forest? Half of the panels would be thick grass. In a Enemy team base? The enemy pokemon might have a piece of cover, or you could have traps on your side. Underwater? All panels would be water, meaning any types weak to water can't fight)
Some panel types could be:
>Thick Grass: Reduce damage done to you, but you lose accuracy
>Berry Tree: Grab a random berry when HP is low
>Enemy Team (rocket, plasma, ect) Trap: Could range from sleeping gas, to a toxic orb, to a pseudo mean look)
>Water: -1 Speed, -2 if weak. +1 Speed if the pokemon is a water or ice type
>Wild Pokemon Nest: A random low leveled wild pokemon joins the enemy and fights you in a pseudo double battle
>Pokeball: Pick it up without it being hit by an attack from either side to get a random item (Potion, ether, rare candy, etc, maybe a rare TM if you get lucky)
>Type Enhancing Items: Like the Magnet, Hard Stone, BlackGlasses etc. Only instead of picking them up and wearing them, the pokemon would be able to throw it and do an 80BP of the same type. Like a Physical Hidden Power
>Random Item: Choice band, choice scarf, leftovers, red card, etc. gives you the option to switch out your equipped item
