>>20889284The main problem I have with contrary Shuckle is that it's still largely taunt bait. Infestation helps to mitigate the problem, but doesnt really fix anything aside from not having to struggle when taunted.
Assuming you've killed the opponent's taunter or they dont have one, its an alright set. Infestation+Toxic is a bitch to deal with in theory, but then you run into Steel types, which coincidentally Shuckle has a weakness to. That leaves you with the tough decision between running Toxic but having a chance to get fucked hard by steel, or going with power split which helps shut down everything but fails to be as much as a danger to most mons as Toxic is. Running power split really only serves as an annoyance at this point unless you run Shuckle with something like a rocky helmet, but then you are losing out on precious leftover recovery and it doesnt do jack shit to anything non-physical. And of course, a lucky Critical completely fucks the set.
Basically, shuckle is amazing if you take out the steel types and taunters first, but kind of flails bad otherwise. He's not really that great of a pivot either.
I almost think something like regenerator would have been a better ability on him. You could have a lot of fun trapping and pivoting all over the place.
And I could finally have an excuse to run my extremely gimmicky Ass-Vest Shuckle as the greatest sp. defense sponge ever witnessed in the game.
