Reposting the most discussed starter submission from last thread. Submission text
>Submitting my take on the magical girl role for the water starter based on black swans, ballet(Swan Lake), and also magical girls, Sailor Moon in particular. I tried to make them as androgynous as I could. I tried to keep a playful theme in the first two stages, while the final stage I tried to make look a little more imposing. I also tried to incorporate some wave-like motifs on each stage.
>First stage is cute as fuck
>Middle stage works as a middle stage
>Final is wearing a valkyrie helmet

They're flightless, right? Either way I don't mind since they're water/fairy anyway. Sets it apart from Swanna which is pretty much a real swan in a bra anyway. These are waaaaaay better

ive said this before but if you guys want to be successful with this project you should simply make a pokedex and not a region. if you make a downloadable package of 150~ pokemon who can be inserted into other pokemon roms you will bypass much of the bullshit that sage deals with and maximize your efficiency and hype. lots of people would be hella down to play actual pokemon games with extra pokemon. the pokemon designing phase is by far the most exciting and fast paced part of doing something like this anyway.

I have another question to add. I'll give the designs I submitted as an example. If I were to ever want to use one of my designs in my own fangame (Not likely but just trying to see who these designs belong too) would I be able to without dealing with people going like "you stole designs from these faggots you faggot" granted this isn't some legal battle or anything but just checking so no badmouthing is done.

No one can seem to agree on what the starters should be, which kinda frustrates me. I liked the grass sugar glider, water platypus, and fire thorny devil because they were very well, Australian. If you decide to go for the swan or the prawn for the starter, at least make the platypus a standard poke, cause it needs to be in there somewhere.

Very cool design you got here but it doesn't scream "starter" to me. Would be a good pseudo legend though. Like a mix of clawitzer/Accelgor.

I just realized I can't draw birds. Anyway this is my terrible first concept. The first stage is a nearly-naked chick, evolves into a cartoon budgie, and the third evo is a mixture of a cockatoo and a harpy eagle, which also have crests.
I was thinking grass/flying for the typing. I know, bad typing but it would get a decent ability and stats to compensate.

I really don't like it. Only the face mask is a good idea and execution. First and second evolution is just butt ugly. Mostly the first though. Second night be saved by removing the wing and instead making the body feathers dress bigger and longer. The same could be said about the last evolution.

My opinion is that the water starter should be the black swan, since it has the most potential as the magical girl (albeit after some design changes, don't just leave it up to the original artist who made them though, take your own initiative like>>20892884) AND it is also native to australia while prawns/lobsters can be found...literally everywhere. Plus, why the fuck we would use a crustacean(idk what the hell it is) as a starter since it's already been done by GF. The platypus on the other hand, is beyond saving, all desgins so far have been hideous, and all final platypus stages end up looking weird and not starter material. Besides, the platypus works much better as a non-starter.

I like it so far, it doesn't look to much like a flying bird and doesn't appear to be wearing actual clothing.
The color change is a bit sudden though. The first evolution needs some black elements aside from the feet which become yellow anyway.

Another boring rip-off Pokemon coming in,

This Pokemon is based on Ned Kelly. I tried give it some sort a vibe to it, but I don't really know if I had a success with it. As for it's typing, it's Ghost/Steel.

I know that it's pretty shitty and not perfect, but I would like some comments on it to improve it. Oh also, I know that it's pretty similar to Sage's Mexican Ghost thing.

Here's some references for Mannawar, which I decided I'm going for (though Vociferen seems to be a viable second option). I played with the concept of a Portuguese man-o-war using the bubbles on its head in tandem with its body.

You know that mega empleon that is posted every once and a while? Take cues from that design and how it ramps up empleon a notch, then do the same to the last stage. Or perhaps add in design inspiration from a peacock and try to blend that with the ballerina concept for some kind of tail. Maybe ribbon-esque.

This is a bit of an odd mix but I had an idea for a tooth fairy pokemon which would be fairy/dark. I thought it would have the body of a tooth designed to look like a cute cape and for arms and legs it would have red nerves hanging from the tooth. That coincidentally looks a hell lot like a man o war.

I had an idea for a pink slug Pokémon based off of Triboniophorus aff. graeffei (pic related). I was thinking it could be a Bug/Fairy-type or something similar and have a "cute" appearance to it - big round eyes, blush stickers, etc. It could also borrow some design inspiration from fluorescent light and glow in the dark, emphasizing it's color.

I don't know, it's just an idea. Not exactly the best at designing. Sorry if something similar has been mentioned before, too.

Yo, artist here! (I was notified about someone posting my stuff, I have to say I'm flattered. I like the out-of-place mothman too.)

The reason it's a cat is because I combined two concepts. Someone had made a concrete cat(?) concept, and I felt that the concepts we were working with (a concrete cat, a russian doll, a pikamon) felt a bit too shallow so they were hard to make something non-generic with. Thus, I combined them to make something I felt might be a bit more unique.

I'm busy with my own stuff now, so I won't be around to help you guys out, but feel free to use all of the stuff I made you however you want.

In fact, as a bonus here's a smaller, kinder variant of the bottom-right rat that I drew at some point but never posted because we had discussed one of those plusle/minun volbeat/illumise relationships and then I think that was dropped at some point down the line. Maybe you can use it for something?

Make the top a lure ball and the in-game flavor could be that along the coast items found floating in the waves will be in lure balls because of their utility in that area. Also people would catch their gear to save space while packing and it's waterproof. Your aqua colored flame wouldn't distinguish it from sea

I have a request that is quite dear to me.
Two Steel/Ghost Pokémon, intended to be undying rivals.
One is a steel plated lion, the other a steel plated falcon.
The idea is that they faught together over their entire existence, and that rivalry will continue with them, even after their deaths.

I never held genuine regard for these things, but I feel a huge chunk of Australian heritage will be lost once they're gone.

Here's an idea. How about making a reptilian ice type? It's obvious why GF doesn't do that since freezing cold is the least thing any reptile wants but I thought it would be visually interesting.
Basically it's black or grey because real snakes in cold climates have that color to absorb light and therefore warmth better.
It has ice shard looking scales similar to a rough scaled bush viper and it has those holes that you can see on pythons except not for sensing stuff but frosty cool air comes out of it. as you can see I'm not an artist.
Maybe it could have a variation of flash fire as an ability that powers it up somehow when hit by fire attacks.
It could also be Fire/Ice come to think about it. Frozen outside and very hot inside with steam coming out the holes.
