The repeated instances of begging coupled with the increasingly insipid dialogue made this the first Pokemon game where I actively skimmed over dialogue.
When I replay any of the older games, all of which were translated by Nob Ogasawara and not the collective entity of TPCi, I notice a stark difference in the quality of translation. Despite being limited to less characters, he was able to make translations feel like actual dialogue.
While Black and White managed to have good plot-related text, everything else since Platinum has felt like a steady decline. The same thing happened when TPCi took over the anime; scripts got closer to the originals, but it's make dialogue feel read and lifeless.
I don't think it's nostalgia clouding my judgement, as I've recently gone back and evaluated much of the text as I go. While flavour text for moves has improved (as has everything with a competitive angle), the overworld and narrative text have gotten weaker.
While he isn't perfect, even the more direct translations tend to feel more natural under Nob.
