I actually really like gen 6. It was very refreshing to gen 5, which is definitely the worst. It had arguably the worst 3 starters of any gen, the dumbest supporting protagonist I've ever seen, almost all of the new pokemon introduced were shit, boring redesigns of old pokemon, or even worse, Keldeo.
The metagame also turned into weather wars trash featuring rotom-wash and ferrothorn. I know the current metagame is pretty lame too but at least there is some real variety in what people are using now compared to last gen, where teams were completely identical, down to the EVs, moves and items. And this gen, the UU environment is really fun and flavorful.
I hear a lot of complaining about megas, and while personally for pokemon like Absol or Kangaskhan I would have preferred a regular evolution, I do still like the concept and am glad to see pokemon I have always loved like Blastoise and Sceptile to get some much needed attention from Game Freak.
I will say that I did prefer the overworld of B/W to X/Y simply because the 3ds graphics look very clunky, and while part of me misses sprites I do prefer the new 3d models for pokemon battles. Gives the pokemon more life in my opinion.
Anyway, I guess I should add that really my biggest gripe about B/W is the new pokemon they added. I really have to struggle to think of 10 pokemon from B/W that I actually liked, when I like just about every new pokemon introduced in X/Y except for the legendaries, Carbink and every event mon shown except Volcanion who I wish would be released already.
I'm also disappointed in X/Ys post-game, and I'm also disappointed that there isn't going to be an X2/Y2 or a Z version coming out, and they are just going straight to remaking R/S.
All in all, I loved gen 6 and it's right behind gen 4 in my all time favorites. If you're wondering, I like gen 4 the most because of HG/SS and the metagame at the time.
