There is literally nothing wrong with a bipedal pokemon becoming quadraped as long as its aesthetic/theme/fighting style is congruent.
There is literally nothing wrong with a pokemon based on one species evolving into a pokemon of another species.
There is literally nothing wrong with a pokemon looking different than its pre-evolutions because that's what evolution is. There are other starters that change just as much.
I'm sure many people would hate it if it weren't for bullshit argument propagated because wottergate and a seed planted early on hadn't given people an unwarranted hate boner for Samurott, and I respect that. The problem is that most people who hate it look completely past its design or merits and just try to fit in.
