What do you think of game freak giving megas story-wise instead of considering just the pokemon's stats and viability?

It makes sense, I wonder if every E4 will have a mega, they have the potential to do so.
As much I'd like to drink more Flygonfags tears there's also the possiblity that secret base guy will give you a stone after completing various quests since there was no reason to showcase him having a main pokémon otherwise.
