Sure it'll probably die to a strong Mach Punch but it's got some buffed defenses (which will still be pretty bad but better nonetheless) and it resists the other two most common priority moves, Bullet Punch and Aqua Jet

Yeah man, those weaknesses to Ice Shard, Bullet Punch, Sucker Punch and Aqua Jet really make it super weak to priority.

Unless it doesn't receive and reaches 100 or 100+ base speed it will appear onlybone in battle and struggle against priority. You can alwaysbtry a protext less set and use aqua jet for the bird.

Fact is no matter how much bulk it will be given, will barely tank a stab or se hit.

It's the front end of a shark with some plastered on fins and a star or its rear end. I'm not saying Mega Pedo looks good but you have to admit for what they were trying to achieve they worked with what they had.

You will then suffer from a 4MSS and lack of Protect checking and scouting your opp beside a safer Speed Boost opportunity. A normal Sharpedo can appear in battle more than once, the mega will be afraid of choice scarf users and higher base speed mons. Even with something like 105 speed stats.

if by any chance it gets SD, just invest in bulk (252 HP, or 252 Def for priorities), and you'll not have to run Protect because surely it'll tank few hits, so a move set like this will be all it needs to dominate the metagame

It has no boosting move, multiple good pokemon resist its dual STABs (e.g. Azumarill AKA sacred bunny) and its move are all low in BP (strong Jaw can compensate for that but it can't hold an item anyway.) Could also have a case of 4MSS seeing as it would need Protect to get a speed boost, and it would also provide absolutely zero defensive synergy to a team seeing as it's OHKOed by any neutral attack.

Sanic Destiny Bond will be annoying though, but that would just be another slot with no coverage move.

It might be cool but I don't think it's going to be particularly good. Especially with that bulk.

I can see it making it in OU because of hype, but it's not going to last there long at all unless it gets more fang moves, Fire Fang would be great for Skarm and Ferrothorn

I was referring to Salamence, not Sharpedo. Sharpedo's Mega wasn't even based on popularity or probably wouldn't happen if it didn't happen to be on the bad guys' boss' squad. Salamence, on the other hand is a dragon, a pseudo, a cool design, already strong etc - i.e. the exact kind of Pokemon Gamefreak have hardons for and love to buff for no reason whatsoever. And oftentimes, they'll overdo it. Plus, Talonflame is so popular and has such a following because strong priority, who's to say they won't decide add birdspam as a factory option for Salamence in the form of Aerilate ESpeed. Hell, I bet they'll even get around to buffing slug at some point solely because it's a pseudo. Calling it now.

Its already good. In dubs, it rapes. In singles with support it still has plenty of rape potential. It can also switch in fairly easily in today's mainly physical meta thanks to Intimidate. Yet they feel the need to buff it further. Even if it was M-Sharpedo's case, how'd a base atk and speed of 140 and 115, respectively, be bad? Specially taking advantage of it's abilities, it's pretty damn good.
