On the other hand, Misty did have a crush on Ash, and her relationship with Ash did change throughout the series,it's not fartech'd to think Serena's will too. Their relation is improving slowly but steady. Serena seemingly starting to get more focus should bring more aspects of their relationship to the table. y' know, like every past girl.
And yeah, this is coming from a landlubber who'd like Serena to develop as a character and doesn't care about the "Muh Amour" gimmick at all.

I've found it interesting how just as Ash tends to be involved in the Serena episodes, Serena seems to get a bit of focus in Ash's Gym battles so far whether it's directly like in Viola's gym or indirectly like the spaghetti in Grant's gym.

I have a feeling that, even as exciting as it is now, if they actually did get together with her staying and it kept going for too long, it would run out of steam. The best way to handle this is probably to keep spilling the spaghetti as needed so interest doesn't run down, then end it with a just somewhat vague ending where you know where it stands without having to explicitly do it.
I don't know, the idea of the final resolution being something unsaid seems kind of cute, and as it stands it feels right too
