If you're talking about design, there's literally no reason they couldn't just pass off as Mega Evos.

Debatable. Most people would argue that most of them are garbage. I personally only like Gliscor out of the ones you listed. I suppose Magmortar kinda saved Magmar from forever being absolutelydisgusting.jpg

Well, you have to ask yourself why you'd want an evolution over a mega.

I mean, I don't have anything against cross-gen evos really, but what can it do that a mega can't? If the point is to buff up your bro, than that's what megas are for. If the point is a new Pokemon, then why don't we have a new Pokemon?
