STABs are not coverage moves.

http://pokemondb.net/tools/type-coverage go compare Electric/Dragon/Rock to Electric/Dragon/Fighting. Power Gem isn't covering anything, without Focus Blast you're countered by Excadrill, Magenzone and Ferrothorn, and then some irrelevant stuff. With Focus Blast it's just Whimsicott who resists and Whimsicott is awful.

At least you didn't say Signal Beam, I guess.

This happened to me three times in a row when I faced a sleeping Hydreigon on cart just a few minutes ago. Then my opponent ragequit and disconnected at the end so I didn't even get to save it.

There's always Power Gem, which can be used by over 20 different Pokemon! And exactly half a dozen of them are actually Rock-types with massive base Special Attacks, some as high as SEVENTY-FIVE!
Sorry champ, but Rock already has PLENTY of moves to choose from. It's already got a whole ONE more move than less fortunate types like Dragon and... Dragon! Why don't you have more perfect accuracy Normal-type moves instead?
Yes I'm salty. Why is the best type for coverage the worst type for STAB? At least Ice and Grass and all of the other types that host hourly pity parties on /vp/ can safely spam their same-type moves, every Stone Edge is a heart-stopping gamble. Will it hit and kill that +2 Mega Pinsir? Or will it miss and doom my Tyranitar to a shaky-quaky death?
Physical 80/100 Rock move should also be a Biting move for Tyrantrum's sake, shit's crazy.

I don't know about you guys, but I have much better luck with focus blast than I do with play rough. My cousin and I both use Azumaril on our teams and both of us miss with play rough literally once every game. And it's supposed to be 90% accurate!
