The Gen 4 starters are the most overdesigned. They're real life things with more than 3 colors and various things stacked on them. No, really:
>torterra is a giant turtle ankylosaur with rocks on its cheeks, shell and a tree on its back. it's also green, brown and grey
>infernape is a monkey with a flaming head, a fur coat, golden adorns and some kind of red unibrow. it's also orangebrown-ish, white, red, yellow and blue
>empoleon is a fat emperor penguin with a trident on its face, pointy things on wings, claws on wings, a blue face, frills and a steel thing on its belly/neck. it's also black, blue, golden and white
All the starters are just an animal with different colors and one or two elemental things on them and they can still be their own monsters apart of the real thing, and if they were real they could still be their own animals. But the Gen 4 starters are so much overdesigned. Blaziken is a giant fire rooster with long legs, colorful feathers and arms where the wings should be but that's ok since its theme is being a literal cockfighter.
Their stats and movepools are shit too, maaaaybe Infernape has a decent-ish movepool but even then that's stretching it.
