I don't get you guys. I'd rather that physically attacking and specially attacking each have pros and cons like physical attackers dealing with burn and special attackers dealing with assault vest.

Seconding this. There's no point to having different damage categories if they work exactly the same. It's more or less the same reason why I don't agree with people who think such and such a move (e.g. elemental punches, Flamethrower/Ice Beam/Thunderbolt/Surf clones) should have a counterpart in every type. The game becomes boring if things are too symmetrical.

Exactly. Electric has only one weakness (Ground), but Electric isn't a godly defensive type because that weakness is to one of the most common attacking types out there with an excellent, well-distributed move (Earthquake) and because few Electric-types have defensive stat distributions.
