Version exclusives before the GTS existed
Extra box space before Pokemon Bank existed

Now the only advantages I can think of are version exclusive megastones and being able to do Battle Tower/Subway/Mason Multi Battles by yourself.

I probably do what I did for XY:
Buy one version and play through a couple times until I decide to start team-building and collecting and then just buy the other version to play through and reset on occasion.

Still unsure if I will buy both. I've pre-ordered Omega Ruby and my brother says he'll buy Alpha Sapphire and I have access to the Sapphire exclusives (excluding any exclusive mega stones) on other games.

If I do buy Sapphire it won't be until I've already finished Ruby and a few months of 2015 have gone by.
