Apparently it was originally an oversight, but the devs thought it was interesting and kept it in for sixth gen.

Oversight that was kept. Also Sheer Force + LO fucks up the damage formula and turns out stronger than it's supposed to be. LO sheer force moves outpower specs/band sheer force moves

well, don't both apply the same amount of power increase? they might have used something like the same type of damage increase which could possibly fuck up the formula.

It does it you skill swap it from a Clefable in doubles.

Why someone would bother going through the trouble of skill swapping magic guard onto an Espeon in double just for LO is beyond my comprehension, though. It would be a complete waste, especially considering all the things that could use it better.
