I'm hoping the plot's as similar to Emerald as it can be without protagonizing Rayquaza. Also Milotic and Glalie are just about the only ones of my favourite pokemon who haven't got megas yet.

Perhaps, seeing as OR/AS is a far earlier point in the timeline, he can be more inexperienced and sort of bumbling about for comedy's sake. I remember when he was introduced in Gen 4 he wasn't exactly serious either.

Of course, it would be fine to have special snowflakes if the game didn't supply you with a way to breed ones that are genetically superior in every way, and said genetically superior Pokemon weren't the standard in all competitive play.

I’ve been trying to complete the Unova dex on White 2 for shiny Haxorus and noticed that Buneary can only really be obtained in Black 2, so a friend offered to check on his Heart Gold to see if there was a Buneary swarm (Otherwise I’d just take the 1% chance on my Soul Silver)

Turns out there was a Buneary swarm going on and this is what he first encountered. I guess it’s not really luck on my part, but it’s funny that the Pokemon he was looking for me turned out to be shiny.

My Pokemon and the 6V Ditto I got from someone on /vp/ "seem to get along" and the eggs come at a perfectly reasonable rate. The daycare man usually turns around before I even have an empty slot in the party.

I really don't see the point in being such a purist about this kind of thing. It's not like I'm genning a shiny, I'm just removing a rather annoying step from the breeding process, since it's not always easy to acquire 6V foreign Pokemon.

What I do is I breed for a few 5/6 IV parents of what I am breeding, and let someone from here with a non english game breed a foreign parent for me to use.

Well, I guess it could have gotten Klutz instead of Run Away, so it could at least pas around some Flame Orbs or whatever it is Lopunnies do, but I assume I'll just use it as a Mega most of the time anyway, and even if I ever DO want Klutz, I can just ability capsule it. All in all, a great hunt.

It's been over a year now since I last bred pogeymans, and it's been NEVER since I last tried to go after shinies in any significant way.

When X and Y came out I remember seeing a shit-load of threads for fishing for shinies, and I kinda lost-heart due to seeing so many shinies flooding the boards suddenly. Then the whole thing with friend safari and stuff. THEN the cloning (which is still going on... wtf?).

I'm a purist to a pretty strong point, I own a gamecube simply to get a legit xtreme speed zigzagoon. Where should a breeder like me begin again when it comes to finding some shinies? I personally don't give much of a fuck anymore about the fishing thing - but I wouldn't do it. I think I'd be open to friend safari hunting. But I know for sure I wouldn't use a generated perfect foreign ditto for breeding, which is okay, as I think I have a ditto or two from a year or so ago that a Japanese friend gave me. As a newbie beginner in this shiny business, should I start simple and hatch one?

Last question, is there an understanding that most people here use generated dittos for breeding? or is it actually a smaller number than it seems. Cheers.

As for hunting, you quite simply want too use the Masuda Method. It's the hardest and most painful to do, but it will get you the most rewarding and sought after shiny.

And just try to ignore the cheaters and such, most of us do. We care about legitimacy here. At worst, people will use a hacked Ditto.

Also here's an image guide if you don't get how IV breeding works.

Other than that, you just basically work your way up to a 5 or 6 IV female to throw into the daycare with your 6 IV male, then get on that bike until you get your shone. I think that covers just about anything, but feel free to ask if you're still confused.

Even then, I'd still say there's a VERY broad line between those who breed a hacked Ditto, and those who generate their shinies. Part of what makes a shiny precious and sentimental is the amount of time and effort you put into acquiring it. Using a Ditto to influence its stats doesn't make getting the shiny itself any easier.

Managed to breed this this weekend. Found out later the HP was 25,26 so I'm keeping it. Final moveset is Jump Kick, Return, Ice Punch, Fire Punch.

So what determines a pokemon being "foreign" for MM-ing? If I set my 3DS region does that count, or is it language?

although the ditto technically doesnt matter at all, i find a 5/6iv parent of the same pokemon that i am breeding.

have gotten shinies both ways, they are literally the same i dont feel like i cheated, the shiny odds are the same, and IV are passed randomly
