Another thing that annoys me about megas is that this is a perfect way to make a pokemon able to battle in a whole new way, but in many cases it seems they only gave mega for power
Examples of what i like is Kangaskhan and Pinsir, both of them add to the idea of the poke, sticking to it, while still doing something new.
But then there's shit like blastoise
The only thing he gets other than power, is a boost for a choice of four different moves
