I didn't see all of the later Hoenn episodes, but like the last few it seemed like May had grown a little apart. But maybe its just the new voice didn't really have the emotional attachment May's old voice did.

Iris was a bitch the whole region. I don't think Ash really liked her, even telling her to shut up when Iris gave him a dumb shit obvious advice.
Bonnie can also count as a friend but she will probably say "keepu" towards Ash at the end of the XY series.

I watched the sub version, and thought Iris was pretty harmless in general, and found her voice usually pretty cute, specially because I love her voice actress. Her catchphrase didn't bother me much after the first episodes, unless when overused in the same episode, for example.
But holy shit her dub voice was ear grating. Not to mention that everything she said, every fucking thing, had an angry tone to it.
It was like dub Piplup vs. sub Piplup all over again.

They needed to make it more clear that for all she shits on Ash, she actually cares about him and considers him a friend. They tried to do that sometimes in BW but most of the time it felt like such an afterthought. I think the only time they even tried to make that a central part of an episode was that was that stupid apple episode during filler islands.
For example, I can't think of any part in BW where Ash had a point where he was discouraged (like after Paul beat him in DP or when Viola beat him in XY), so there was never really an opportunity for them to show Iris' nice side.

Watch Battle frontier episodes for Hoenn. The battles were made for the old Kanto fans. Especially against the last match against Reggie.
My confessions are:
1. I hate Misty, I hope she ends up with Tracy.
2. I can't get into XY yet because of lack of true rival like Paul/Gary...and Trip if we really have to include him.
3. I've watched all episodes of pokemon even including BW and have no hate towards any of the series.
4. I can't understand the hate for BW. It was bad but still enjoyable if you imagined as if it was the first pokemon series ever made. This is how I rolled through it.
5. I copy Ash's Sinnoh team/ Hoenn team/ or Kanto team and use it online. Just for the kek.

Serena marketing Pokémon Amie and Pokévision is at least building up to Tripokalon performing. Her feelings for Ash and her starting a little slow is at least an interesting contrast to all of the previous girls. Now she's gonna start getting the ball rolling and we'll get to see her mature as a trainer. Tripokalons should be a lot more exciting than what we've seen in her episodes before since it'll be a competition involving other characters like Shauna and Elle.

I felt emotions during that part and cried too if we're on the same page.
DP seriously was boss, I consider Ash the best in that region and the writers had to purposely make him lose against Ubers because they had no other way to stop him.
At some point, I believed DP would be Ash's last generation only because of how he met with all the elite 4 + champion, the heavy relationship with Dawn, best rival ever made, and Ash's best region team. I bet they changed the end at the last second though.
To be completely honest, I consider DP the true end of the pokemon anime series. It probably will be in my mind if XY isn't the end for Ash this gen or if the anime never finishes.
