>>21068641I completely disagree with you, OP. BW music was very bland to me and left no positive impressions on me -- neutral at best.
>Gym themeIt wasn't intense. It was too "positive" for my tastes and didn't leave any impression that I was in a battle against someone powerful.
>E4It was repetitive and bland. It repeats the same melody in different tones and then falls into the same category as the gym theme -- too "major" oriented, as in the key used, as if the battle themes are afraid of using minor notes whatsoever. This makes the battle feel dull and again, boring and less intense to me.
The overworld music is the same. In fact, the soundtrack is completely boring to me because in general it takes no risks. It feels very cookie-cutter with some exceptions like celestial tower.
>XYRight off the bat I'll admit that the gym leader theme sucked. It had potential to best BW but it was worse and I'm sure I don't need to explain why. The E4 theme was well done, especially at the "climax" of the song, something I feel BW did not achieve.
However XYs overworld music beats the hell out of BW any day:
>Snowbelle>Laverre>Anistar>GeosengeThese are examples off the top of my head that I can instantly recall as top tier.
With everything said, all the new battle themes, overworld themes, and town themes that BW2 added were magnificent, if that's worth anything to you. They were really well done and suited what they were used for really well, and took way more risks than anything out of BW.
