Why does GameFreak insist on making crappy Mega Evolutions that are easily outdone by their base form with a different item?

ITT: We fix shitty mega evolutions.

I'll start:

- Give Mega Sharpedo either Sharpedo's HA (Speed Boost) or No Guard. Then boost ATK by 40, SATK, DEF, and SDEF by 10, and SPD by 30.

But seriously, Strong Jaw is such a shitty ability for Sharpedo. He only has 3 moves which CAN take advantage of it, and nobody is ever going to run Bite and Crunch in the same set. Ice Fang isn't a regular move for Sharpedo either, though it could replace Ice Beam in some sets.

If you mean usability, yes - Blastoise only has Water Pulse. Otherwise he has access to Dark Pulse (TM 97), Dragon Pulse (Breeding), and Aura Sphere (Breeding),

Mega Launcher could work but it would need a buff. How about "Powers up Aura, Pulse, and Cannon moves."

Now you can add Flash Cannon, Hydro Cannon, Water Gun, and such to the list of affected moves.

Crazier things have happened in Pokémon, but I honestly can't see Sharpedo gaining Poison Fang, Fire Fang, and Thunder Fang.

I'm not saying people run with Bite, Crunch is obviously far more optimal but it's one of the three moves that Sharpedo has access to that is affected by Strong Jaw.

Which was the entire point of the thread, to fix Megas that are outclassed by their base form and Life Orb.

Look at poor Blaziken (Ubers, I know). HA Blaziken + Life Orb is a strong threat. Mega Blaziken has Speed Boost, too and the BST increase doesn't outweigh the general advantage Life Orb gives.

84.5 versus 90. I'd say they're close enough now that it's better to run fang (assuming the things it's attempting to hit with its ice move are primarily weaker physically). You also get that flinch chance.

In fact, all 3 of its physical moves now flinch.

Still better than Tyrantrum. ORAS might sneak more Egg Moves onto Carvanha. It wouldn't be the first time they changed something like this in the same Gen (see: Gen 4 Cyndaquil.)

It probably is. You can now go all in into attack without having to worry about your defense being even worse. And it does more damage to shit like Gliscor than it did with the Life Orb, to the point where it can KO most Gliscors.

I assumed this with a +20 to attack, which is the minimum they'll give it. But "all its stats grow" doesn't necessarily mean that it won't be a +10 or 15 to each defensive stat.

I seriously doubt the SATK increase of mega evolution is gonna push Sharpedo users to consider making it a Mixed Attacker. Especially since it'll still be inferior to Life Orb Sharpedo users.

It's not negative, it's pure fact. 97.5 BP isn't awful, just a hair under say Earthquake which is probably what I might consider running next to Crunch, Waterfall, and Protect anyway.

Base Gyarados has a higher ATK than Sharpedo, but I'll bet that Mega Sharpedo comes out on top of Mega Gyarados. They both run Waterfall almost everytime, but Sharpedo gains an edge with Crunch instead of Bite. Both run Earthquake on occasion, but Sharpedo often goes for Protect to scope out competition or gain a free boost (HA), while Gyarados finishes with Dragon Dance for a +1 to both Attack and Speed. I'd say they're pretty close, but Mega Gyarados is probably the better sweeper because he has 109/130 defenses.

Yeah, coverage works more as a slash. That's the shame that it didn't get Sheer Force, in that its special attack would be even more usable with it, but maybe Gamefreak thought it would break the game, even though they've released dumber shit.

Stab + Strong Jaw Crunch is going to hit a lot of things for neutral or better damage, also any switch ins risk having their defense lowered

SJ Ice Fang is nice coverage

Waterfall on a +1 Mega Sharpedo is scary because of the flinch rate

M Sharpedo is going to be THE BEST late game cleaner upper.
