Thinking of building a Steel deck once Phantom Forces is out, not sure what to use though? I can't get Cobalion EX due to how expensive it's become and that no one wants to trade it for a Virizion EX.

As cool as Charizard Y is, I wanted to get both of them. Didn't really care getting the Secret Rare, there no real difference and are not worth any more then Ultra Rare Mega card.

So rumor is the maintenance tomorrow is going to bring back tournaments. From what I've read flashfire is worth jack shit because tourneys pumped out tons of free ones. Is that going to happen to FuF too? All my packs are tied up in them and don't want to see my currency become worthless in a week.

Iron Breaker Cobalion is good. Shits all over Seismitoads. If you want to be really dastardly, stick a FLF Dragalge along with some HTLs to make them helpless. Only escape then would be Switch or Keldeo EX.

It's a real shame that we only get one or two steels per set. Really kills the type's viability.

Me and a few co-workers are just getting into this. Only other tcg I got really into was Yugioh a few years back (right when Lightsworn was getting really big, last deck I remember running was Demise OTK). Haven't played since the original GBC TCG. This is the first time I'll actually be playing irl against people but it's way cheaper to build a viable deck than in YGO. I think I'll keep it that way as for me the physical part of owning the cards is half the fun. Bought the Dark Hammer theme deck and did a little bit of research into what's good. Going to go with a Dark theme deck, bought a Darkrai EX tin and have a Yveltal EX and 2 non-ex coming. Also got the Red Genesect bundle thing, it had a lot of "staple" cards. Seemed good. Going to keep it casual but I look forward to playing with friends. It's as fun as I remember it being 10+ years ago on my Gameboy, need to not get roped into it too hard though, as I can see how addicting and easy it is to sink loads of money into. Any tips? I know for a dark deck I'll need the standard staples like Dark Patch, Hypnotoxic Laser, etc. But it's fun atm just being a filthy casual at the game.

What is the best way to store ex's and FA's?Right now I'm just storing them in a binder with single sheets but id like to upgrade.
are the top loaders and sleeves better or should I buy one of those ultra pro binders ?

Put them in sleeves, then put those sleeves in a binder, toploaders, or pro-binder. Really sort of your choice at that point. Toploaders are the safest, binders are the easiest to display. Most people use pro-binders as their trade binders and not for storage, in my experience.

Oh in that case the main way to get them is to buy theme decks. I think there might be some promo ones too, but I'm not entirely sure there.

Pull rates online are totally random in comparison to box rates imo

Never understood why TCG'ers are set in their ways and love real cards, they are either autist meta players who enter tournaments regularly or autist collectors who gotta catch them all lel.

I think the main focus and game changer will be Ipad and if ever, Android platforms.
This will extrapolate the userbase exponentially making ease of access 'safely' for kids and easily chargeable with ipay and googleplay store linked cards.

Well, they happened for a few reasons.

Wizards was trying to localize all five e-series sets really quickly because they were behind, their license was expiring, and Nintendo was breathing down their neck. Wizards wasn't giving money or manpower to Pokemon because it was seen as a threat to Magic and they didn't want to cannibalize their primary market when they knew they'd lose the license (and resulting revenue stream) eventually. They simply didn't have the resources to put out smaller sets, and they had to make huge changes to their printing and processing in order to get the dot codes on the cards. It was a mess.

Nintendo released EX Ruby & Sapphire less than six weeks after Skyridge as a "fuck you" to Wizards.

I run a similar fire deck (although I'm playing with delphox because pyroar is countered super easy) and I've found that torches don't help all that much. You really really want the letters though. They let you pull the 2 fire to be discarded by UB/comp search letting you blacksmith on turn 1 a lot more often. I'd try to squeeze 2 in at all cost

I got an elite mega lucaro box my gf, and all I got was an Ex Hawlucha.
You have better luck getting Ex from tin boxes, but I have gotten the most Ex/FA cards from single packs.

I did get a FA Magnetzone card from a Mega Charizard X box, and a Secret Rare Chari Y from the Mega Y Box.

You got crap, mostly. Boxes average about six ultra rares, and you got four. Nearly every box I've opened has four EX pokemon and two FA cards, barring Plasma Blast which had four EX and one FA.

This is what I run.

The only things I'd suggest to you are catcher and to remove colress. Catcher helps so much in killing garbodor. Colress isn't really good since you don't want to bench many things, or else you'll give them targets to collect prizes.

Yveltal was the cancer of the last format. Now it is the chemo working to cure it. I haven't had any troubles with Seismitoad or Landorus in this format so far. When you are doing an easy 100+ damage per turn, those puny damage outputs don't cut it. Yveltal doesn't miss dark patch nearly as much as I thought it would, too.

And looking again at your deck I see no focus. Why Dark Dragonite if it literally sucks as an attacker? Really, hitting for 70 half of the time? Dark Dragonair isn't any better, at most you should use it as an evo support. Dark Raichu is SLOW, three lightning is going to take you three turns at least, and Dark Electrode is not a really decent attacker.

I need to know what kind of deck you're really wanting to build, and what are the sets your opponents use (up to Rocket? Gym Challenge? any Neo set?)

I'm basically forced to run the blastoise to get it running faster, but running a bunch of plasma stuff just for one poke seems eh

Anything else I can add or run in this to help?

Putting in suicune, some version of kyurem not sure which yet, and lots of scoop ups so I can kill one thing with articuno, take a hit and scoop it then set it back up with blastoise to kill the next.

I got two Meloetta EXs so I threw a Round deck together. It's surprisingly fun.

I used to run one in big basics/aromatisse. It wasn't very good but it killed landorus quick enough and occasionally closed out games. Unfortunately prism energy got rotated so aromatisse's options have been drastically limited. It doesn't seem possible to run plasma with it anymore.

You really need 3 or 4 N it's really the best trainer . Lasers really aren't that good if you are not going to run Virbank. Also I would drop one of the Switch for an Escape Rope, it can net you some easy KOes early and maybe knock out a garbage bag, which cripples your strategy. 4 muscle band kinda seems like overkill as well. Maybe consider adding a random receiver too since the deck relies on Korrina heavily to get Machamps. Also Skyla is a great card.

Here's my suggestion:
-3 Laser
-1 Prof Letter
-1 Landorus
-1 Muscle Band
-1 Switch
+3 N
+1 Escape Rope
+1 Random Receiver

You really can't tell on PTCGO because there is a hidden elo system.

For instance my Quad Heatmor deck has a 42% win rate. Most of its wins are against garbage decks at garbage elo.

Then, I used Donphan to climb back up to a decent elo. It has won 81% of its games despite not being that good.

My first tournament worthy deck was Yveltal/Garbodor. I literally won 29/30 games while climbing before I started playing other good decks. Now it is 167/201.

Once you think you are near the top, switching to the deck you want to evaluate is probably the best way to tell if it is actually good. If it causes you to fall (you can generally tell because of the quality of deck you're playing against), then it isn't as good as whatever else you are running.

Bullshit, sooner or later you get some decent tradable rares. Then trade that shit for loads of boosters. It won't be worth it, but it'll get you enough to build some OK decks. From there you can relatively easily grind for more tradable boosters, rinse and repeat

The source is in the apple app store, the gem prices are specified there. Just search iTunes Pokemon tcg to fins the page. Packs are 100 gems each and theme decks 300 each . 250 gems for 10 $

Sure, but that's Tier 3. Tier 2 is rogue decks that might be able to disrupt the meta proper, and Tier 1 is whatever makes up the meta at the time.

Discussion of Tier 3 decks doesn't help anyone do better, just "have more fun" which is a nebulous concept. The focus of strategy discussion should be to improve our abilities.
