I think there's an actual reason why they can't transparent cartridges, like is interferes with the infrared or something.

There is no reason why we can't have solid colored cartridges at least. I mean, they are using the red/blue color combination for the second time in a row. Do something to make ORAS stand out from X and Y.

The red/blue color cartridge would be best reserved for well, Red & Blue.
If you used a transparent red/blue, that would give better homage to Ruby and Sapphire because rubies and sapphires are transparent.
