It's the price we pay for investing in a children's franchise. In the scope of Pokémon, though, I think Gen 6 was about as adult as we're gonna get.

You can pluck out some pretty disturbing (in context) Pokédex entries for a few 'mons in every iteration. Unfortunately, unlike it's sequels, R/B/Y lacked the narrative to coincide with it.
