OK I have a concept for at least one legendary, and generally the theme of the game. It occurred to me while filling in the grass starter survey when I came across pic related. To me it makes an ill-fitting starter but a great legendary.
The Dream World already exists in Pokémon canon, though only accessible online. The spiritual sanctity of dreams, and the 'Dreaming' as a time and place of creation are established in aboriginal mythology.
http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Dream_Worldhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreaming_(spirituality)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DreamtimePokémon canon suggests that the Dream World is (in the context of gen V at least) only accessible to Pokémon, as it is your Pokémon who travel there when tucked in. This is where PokéAus and the goat shaman legendary come in. This legendary Pokémon bears the ability to guide humans to the Tree of Dreams in their sleep, where a powerful item or Pokémon can be found (as per the storyline). As the Dreamtime is believed to have been the time and place of creation, it would make sense if this was where the powerful creator rainbow serpent is to be encountered as in this post.
>>21072089Once visited during the storyline, the Dream World would be inaccessible (except perhaps in a limited way in the postgame) and the goat shaman would be encounterable roaming whatever forest it was first encountered in.
To me this would tie PokéAus to the canon well, in addition to adding a cool new area to our game and giving us our own lore to work with.
To clarify, this would tie aboriginal mythology to European (and generally global) woodland folklore
It wouldn't necessarily have to be tied to familiar areas of the Dream World but the rainbow bridge fits the rainbow serpent well and the Tree of Dreams fits the goat's woodland theme well, in addition to providing a dramatic setting for our finale.
Thoughts?
