dedenne is pretty useful

cripples lots of things and is immune to para, which is useful

granbull's only useful on trick room I think because of its 45 speed

azumarill is pretty great

It's more of a support garde than an offensive one so I decided to lower my SpA by a point to raise me defense one more point. In case it helps me survive some random physical attack. I've also got dual screens klefki to help boost my defenses

so far I start with mmawile and start iron heading everything, the only thing that has given me problems is togekiss and other mawile's, though usually mine outspeeds them, also taunting set up fodder (klefki/whimsicott) is delicious though be careful with them endeavor whimsicotts

My team fought against 9 Mawile, 1 Sylveon, 5 Togekiss, 6 Gardevoir (not even one was Mega), 2 Whimsicott, 3 Klefki, 1 Wigglytuff, 1 Clefable, 1 Slurpuff and 1 Azumarill.

There was a special attacker mawile, it defeated my Gardevoir with three Sludge bomb.

I found one, its a pretty common move on some sets in VGC, I've run into quite a few talonflames with the 100bp ice berry to deal with chomp and lando among other things. The problem with whimsi using it is that it has such shit attacking stats and its only a one off move so your really not going to be KOing anything.

I'd go charm over entrainment personally, it essentially does the same thing (halves mawile and azus attack) but you can keep lowering it, plus if they don't go mega and manage to kill you they just mega then and get huge power vs -6 atk

True, however, you are already immune to para and they are still going to have prankster on the turn you use entrainment so if its klefki its already going to swagger you or get a screen up and if its whimsi its just going to sub and keep prankster.

Mawile can Iron Head again. I just don't like dealing with all these chances like hoping for flinch or hoping they use the wrong move. It's better to go with the 85% chance to 1hko and be done with it. LO Fireblast can also be used to deal with Klefki.

Mega Garde has grown on me.
>Ties with dedenne as fastest fairy type bar pranksters.

Trace prankster first to get rid of the remaining pranksters then mega evolve when you need to sweep and tank special hits.
No other setup attacker I know of can outspeed even regular gardevoir.
Mega Garde is underrated.
Just don't mega evolve right away.

Very, so many klefki and whimsi try to set up on togekiss or cripple it for the mawile switch in that you can wreck their entire stratagy.

Twice in the 10 games I encored T-wave from klefki and nailed mawile on the switch with flamethrower for the OHKO

Cursed with staying around an elo of 1510~1560, at least I always end up with at least one more win than loss. I rushed a fairy team at the last minute and I'm missing some critical moves that could have saved me several battles. Since this is my first competition, I think I've learned a lot. Basically, everyone is equipped to deal with Whimsicott's faggotry (leech seed + substitute + leftovers), so it rarely works unless it's on a low elo scrub. Togekiss seems to be the star of this competition, I've noticed. And fucking Dedenne for some reason.

Shadow sneak for any time I know I'm going to die from increased priority attacks, Destiny Bond to suicide bomb M-Maw, Synchronoise pretty much does at least 50-75% damage to everything, and encore forces Klefki/Whimsi to switch

Finished my 20. I'm 12-8 so far. I really wish I practiced with this team on showdown before entering, it took me way too many games to figure out what things are good against what and what the good leads are.

My usual three are either klefki / azu / mmaw or dedenne / azu / maw.

My togekiss is air slash / flamethrower / encore / roost. Never used roost, and wish I put nasty plot over roost so I can actually do something with the extra turns I got from it. Either that or give it a life orb or specs/scarf or something.

My garde is synchronoise, disable, taunt, dbond. Definitely wish I gave it a lum berry over focus sash. While the sash is nice for dbonding, I found that by the time I needed it, I was already paralysed and slower. I think giving it substitute would've been a huge help.

Dedenne's easily been something a lot of people ignored but it's been hugely useful to me. When a meta turns into paralysis spam, having an immunity to it is huge, and weakening others with eerie impulse/charm is really useful too. Not to mention it shits all over azumarill and togekiss.

How is everyone else doing so well? This is my first tourney and I'm at 9-4 right now and I felt completely outclassed until I changed my lead.

I lost 3 in a row leading with whimsicott and I guess people are completely prepared for it. Since I switched it up with trace gardevoir, I've won 5 in a row so far. Tracing pranksters and intimidates completely fucks over the opponent's strategy and I outspeed their taunter. I've found that preserving gardevoir for trace shenanigans is better than using it as a suicide mon like I originally intended.

Also this good luck so far might be due to me facing mostly mexicans so far, idk.

Gardevoir might come out as mvp in this tournament.

I'm 14-6 (went 7-3 both days). I've brought klefki and whimsicott in my team of 6 so I can pick the prankster that looks like it can handle the opponent's team the best. Azumarill is my second most use poke. Thanks to klefki or whimisi I can cripple whatever mon they have out which allows azu to set up a belly drum and sweep teams on his own. I've brought mega mawile to every match and it's done it's job-tear everything a new asshole. My other two are gardevoir and togekiss but I haven't brought them too much this tournament

I gave it big root since my gardevoir has leftovers. Timid allows me to outspeed max speed gardevoirs so I can taunt all of those who trace my prankster. I ran into one garde holding a mental herb today which made things interesting...just had to play around with switches until I could taunt it again. Charm is to screw over mawile and azumarill and leech seed lets deal damage/heal more than giga drain would do for me (mainly against klefki or mawile).

I run dual screens klefki with light clay so I can greatly boost the bulk of my azu and mawile to make sweeping easier for them.

Timid gives whimiscott a speed stat of 91 while max speed garde has a speed stat of 89. It's out sped by dedenne and other whimsicott but that's never been an issue for me yet.

I used the same team for the whole thing and it worked pretty well. Dedenne gave me the most trouble because it could outspeed and par gardevoir so I could only beat it if the opponent let me kill it. Can mega gard OHKO it with synchronoise? I never tried but came close with regular Gard.

Gardevoir had a mega stone the entire time and I never used it. I Wish I had given it a lum berry

so for timed matches where the winner is decided by HP remaining, is it using total HP% for your whole team or something else?

eg. I just had a match where I had a Gardevoir on 1hp + 2 full health mons and the opponent had a klefki at around 40% and and Azumarill at around 60%. in that scenario would I have won, or would I lose because I had the mon which the lowest HP out of everything?

First it checks to see who has the most mons still alive. In your case it's 3v2 so you would've won. If your gardevoir was KO'd, (so you have the same number of pokemon remaining) I believe it uses % of HP remaining, so you can't abuse stuff like blissey.

I'm glad every team member is more or less usable, though Whimiscott can be pretty risky if I use Memento at the wrong moment.

Also surprised how good Gardevoir is.

dedenne is mvp because i love dedenne and i loved how many people used it, i ran modest and still outsped gardevoirs and 2hko with thunderbolt thanks to life orb

specs togekiss saved my ass many times, i actually bred hp steel on it, just used it once on a wigglytuff i think

I've had one person afk from the selection screen and pick it up after. They were at a higher rating than me at the time but hey, it was free points. Also only had one dc but I don't think it mattered.

I've won at least half of the time against dedenne leading with my trace gardevoir but most of them were plus instead of cheek pouch I guess in case opposing gardevoirs had a berry. Maranga berry didn't do shit for me, wish I put a lum or even a white herb instead.

I've used garde, azu, and mawile for like 75% of my matches. There were only two instances where paraflinch hax cost me the game.

I get a little heated with all the hax I get though in fairness I've had more hax on the giving side, but I've had my fun overall.
I don't have the dedication to to come up with more advanced strategies and go any further but I must admit, monotype tournaments are wicked fun.

According to Battle Spot my final record was 18-12 although one loss I had came from my 3ds disconnecting on a match where my mega mawile had just taunted some guy's last mon, a sub-seed whimisicott. About half of my other losses came from hax my opponent got that put me so far behind that I couldn't come back. Only three or four times was I really outplayed or had a bad lead so things could have gone a lot better had I made a few different plays.

I brought mawile to all 30 of my matches, never was there a time when it was dead weight. Max speed helped net me a lot of kills.

Azumarill is arguably my mvp of the whole thing. I was usually able to cripple whatever mon my opponent had out to allow my azumarill to set up a belly drum and kill anything not named azumarill and whimsicott. This guy won me at least half of my games.

Klefki and whimsicott were my dual pranksters and I chose the one that looked like it would have the best match up against my opponent. Their main goal was to cripple whatever mon my opponent had out so that azumarill or mawile could clean up. I brought both of them about the same amount, 15-14 with klefki being used a little more.

I brought gardevoir only twice. I felt more comfortable with my other pokes so she was more of filler than anything.

Togekiss got brought about 5 or 6 times. I had mixed results with it. I didn't really get that many kills with it and I ended up playing too defensively with it-used thunder wave or roost when I should have attacked. Only once was the babiri berry useful for me-I had flamethrowered a M-mawile to about 30% so my next attack would KO but I was in range of sucker punch so I opted to play defensively and roost but my opponent iron headed and got the win. Fire blast may have been the better choice but I hate the chance to miss.

I guess this isn't a too bad finish for my first tournament and for deciding to enter three days before it started. Hopefully the Halloween one will go a little better

this was my first competition, it was really fun, recorded some sweet battles,

For whatever reason the competition glitched and it says I already did all of my battles even though I still should have 1 battle left. I'll try again a bit later but I don't have much hopes left.

Apart from that one battle, I have 22 wins and 7 losses. Should have around 1720ish rating, which isn't too shabby considering the amount of paralysis that was thrown around. After para Encore was the move that fucked me over the hardest, especially when it was backed up by Prankster. Tfw trying to +6 Aqua Jet a Trace Prankster Gardevoir only to get struck on Belly Drum.

While I'd hardly call most of my battles in this tournament "good", I did save some of the weirder hax-shitfests and funny comebacks.
