Tell me about the oldest Pokemon you transferred to Gen 6, /vp/.

Mine is my Charizard from Fire Red. I've had this guy through every Generation since 3, carried him in my PokeWalker, championed the PWT with him, and now have him holding a Charizardite Y in Gen 6.

It's got only one 31 IV but it's a pretty good status spreader. Unfortunately I can't for the life of me find the bonus disc! It may have been lost in between moving cities..

Jirachi is also my favorite legend, so I'll never be releasing this gem. It's cute and reminds me of my Sapphire days. It's not a fighter but I mainly use it to train my weaker EV'd mons to 50 for battle spot usage.

So, they just double the values, if you had some brain left you would just multiply the old IV value x2 and you have the same shit.
And you can restart EV on almost every version after, so you just "train it" again.

They could have just added random natures, like how they assigned genders between Gens 1 and 2.

Pokemon weren't transferable because GF didn't want to come up with a way to convert the data from the Game Boy games to the GBA games. It's completely possible, but not worth the trouble.

It's funny reading /vp/'s explanations for technical things they have no clue about. It's like when people here talk about hack checks.

Yeah, it would've pretty easy, even the neutral natures would've worked. Gender was just determined by the attack iv when transfering them to gen 2.
The only difference is that in gen 1/2 you could "ev train" (or whatever it was called) all the stats up to 252 (or the equivalent) and in gen 3+ only 2 stats could be maxed.

It's nice that you've taken the time to replicate your Pikachu from Yellow but it's not that Pikachu and never will be.

what you've essentially done is that you created the closest exact replica of that Pikachu from Yellow and passed it off as that Pikachu when that couldn't be further from the truth. It's a replica and that's all it can be.

I'm not disagreeing with you on that, but you said that they restructured the data in Gen 3 BECAUSE it couldn't be converted from Gen 2, and that made no sense.

You know every time you trade or box a Pokemon, it's attributes are essentially recreated wherever you're moving it to and the original is deleted?

Every Pokemon is basically a replica of the version you originally caught. You shouldn't worry about things like this. They're not real, Anon.

Do you have any idea what 8-bit or 16-bit means? It's not just the amount of colors they can use for the sprites, it's how the program allocates memory, whether it be for color data, variables, checksums, etc. An 8-bit game's programming would look a helluva lot different than a 16-bit game's. Clearly, you're the one who doesn't have a clue what they're talking about.

But also, GBA games can transfer to/communicate with DS games, and DS games with 3DS games, just to give you an example.

Just because the programming would "look a hulluva lot different" doesn't mean that it couldn't be read and changed to the appropriate coding on the newer game.

I did not know that natures actually have some purpose back then and I did also not know about IV, so both nature and IV are most likely horrible, I never even cared about looking at them, but I just like the guy. Since then it always traveled to the version I was just playing, nigga has been to every available nation, even Orre. After revisiting Kanto in Soul Silver, and Orre in XD it will now see the third nation a second time in Alpha Sapphire.

It had nothing too special really, but I did migrate the original owner's team, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza and the only nicknamed Pokemon of the bunch, Crawdaunt called Lobster. So probably those.

My personal oldest is pretty much bunch of shit I migrated from SS.

I stopped playing after Gen III because Platinum was so shitty I couldn't bring myself to finish it. As a result most of my bros are still in their Gen III carts, and I don't have cross-gen stories to tell. Except when I transferred my Flygon via HG to Platinum to help me out with the Elite Four (I'd only been using three Pokémon the entire run) when I gave the game another chance early this year.

However: in anticipation of ORAS, I decided to breed my Gen III bros together*. I transferred their children into Y and used them to breed 5IV Pokémon of the same species as their great-grandparents from Emerald. Now when the remakes come around, I can go on an adventure with the great-grandchildren of my old bros. :3

* Bellossom from E with Vileplume from FR;
Kingdra from E with Charizard from FR;
Skarmory from E with a Crobat I raised for the Battle Frontier;
Blaziken from E with a random Ditto;
Flygon from E with Heracross from HG;
and Raichu from E was left out ;_;
