Saw a russian guy walking down the street wearing a pokemon shirt, looked like your typical Rocky XXVI Russian, and he had a voluptuous woman with him which I assumed to be his gf.
Gave him a thumbs up and he smiled back and returned the gesture.

Pretty much.
But I have a friend who only talks about Pokemon. He practically screams at me about Pokemon strategy whenever he can. Weird thing is, he's a "Fly on Charizard" type of guy.

Why would it matter? If you're already talking about pokemon in public, whatever shame you're avoiding is already compromised and if you find someone who enjoys the games and knows as much as you do to talk about such things as IVs and whatnot, why would you be bothered to talk about it? No one really gives a shit and if they do, they're not worth your time. People can discuss the intricacies of what Kim Kardashian said to her sister last night but you;re afraid to talk pokemon? Or how well a specific team is doing in x sport? Fuck it. Discuss what you like when you like with whoever you like. You have that right. That said, I've never discussed pokemon outside a nostalgia run with casuals.

A guy at my uni always sits with my friends and I. Every lecture, he protrudes two Pokemon plush toys, places them on his desk, facing the front, then proceeds to get out the rest of his things and carry on with the lecture. Every lecture.
This has been going on for at least 6 weeks now. None of us have the heart to tell him to stop.

I've talked to my mates about it. They think its kinda weird too, but I guess you're right, you get used to it.
Sometimes random people in lectures ask him what they are or what they're there for, to which he usually looks at them and says "They ward off evil spirits", and then if they keep looking at him he just nods and goes back to his game (i.e. Pokemon). It's kind of funny in a I-don't-want-to-be-associated-with-you-right-now kind of way

I had a conversation like this with my wife.
She saw me playing Y and asked my if i still played pokemon. I said yes and she remembered playing it too and that she'd want to get back to it (she stopped after gen 3)

She asked me about shinies and good strategies.
I didnt think long enough and went on talking about masuda method and friend safari and natures and EV and IV and sub seed tactics and priority moves and so on...

She just looked at me and said "wow, okay i'll try out that masuda thing to get me a shiny pachirisu, the rest is too much for my brain at once"

I felt dumb
