Everyone listen to me. I've devised the ultimate technique to getting legit shinies. You need a powersaves though. What you do is use the time machine method to get a save state with a shiny magikarp to be hatched. Then you go into powersaves and backup that save (i would say twice for good measure). Then you go back to the game and switch the magikarp with the pokemon you actually want shiny. Now don't worry about ivs. With powersaves you can just make it all 31 ivs or whatever and it will be perfectly legit as ivs aren't predicated on PID this gen. Then after you've made that first perfect shiny, you simply upload it to pokemon bank then restore your shiny magikarp state and then you repeat the process ad infinitum to get however many shines you want. All of them will have your TID/SID unlike the shitty powersaves shinify method. It took me only 3hrs to get the shiny state with magikarp. I advise everyone do this to save so much time.

it is absolutely legit and perfect as a pk6 file compared to one obtained through the autism of the in game biking simulator. You also get the same satisfaction of seeing the egg hatch as a shiny.

I don't have a lot of box space, so I breed box-to-box.

I dump into Wonder Trade instead because having more Miles is nice.

Starting with the last thread, I began to purge what actually goes in. HA 5IV ones with a good spread or 6IV ones are dumped in. I've done this with four boxes so far and it has turned out to be a good system.

Since my post wasn't actually clear enough, I do fill the box up before I dump into Wonder Trade. Bad spreads/non-HA are removed prior, but I don't purge until after the box is full.

After that, I retrade/keep whatever good stuff comes my way from WT and release the trash. This used to take quite a bit of time before I started purging beforehand.

Actual gunplay and gameplay is great, and the initial sense of progression is pretty good. The game also looks and sounds awesome.

It's just repetitive as hell, and getting good gear is completely due to the RNG, and it makes really weird design choices like no proximity chat and such. Also, again with the fragmented story.

the whole point of shiny hunting is the hunt.
once you finally hatch your legit with good IVs the happiness and excited feeling is hard to match in ANY game.

slot machines wouldn't be fun if you always won

Well, kinda. This gen's shiny rate (without the charm) is 1/4096; with 5 Pokemon per horde it should theoretically be 5/4096 or 1/819 (per encounter, not per Pokemon). I'm not sure about the charm's rate, though.

The reason I ask is I caught 6 horde shinys in about 14 hours. You know how long it took me to get 6 Masuda shinys? About 14 months. Was I incredibly lucky or do hordes actually have a higher rate. I do have the charm.

They're faster. You get five pokes to appear right away, and you don't have to spend time hatching them. Especially bad if it's something with a long hatch rate like, say, Deino.
