Why does he have a butt cape? Why does Maxie have a sweater on his legs? They got rid of Brendan's pant pants but they added even weirder design choices to make up for it.

Looks even lewder than his actual design. I assume it's there to cover his ass like this anon said >>21137154. It would have made more sense to just give a long coat but I personally don't mind the butt cape.

Maxie is probably wearing some type of protective heat resistant body suit. Since he works close to magma and doesn't want his skin to melt off.

It covers almost his entire body, pretty sure it's there to protect him from the heat.

I wasn't super fond of Maxie's redesign at first, but it's grown on me. I now actually like how nerdy he looks. The cool-headed scientist vibe suits him well. And that coat is bitchin. At any rate, it's definitely has more personality than his original design - same with Archie.
