Typewise, they have no weaknesses barring Bug(LOL Twineedle and Pin Missile) and Ghost( Only Ghost Pokemon in the game are the Gastly line and they have only Shadow Ball which is a Physical move. They have shitty ATK) and just Dark moves.

You have to play on their defenses(Physical bulk on the Abra line)or their other type(Burn Jynx or shock Starmie).

It's a fair question considering Psychic types dominate Kanto. Nothing resists them except other Psychic types and Magneton. Kanto is filled with Poison types, so you have to be careful not to build a team with too many Psychic weaknesses.

I'm sorry not everyone overlevels weak Pokemon to coast through the game. Some people like to play the game using strategy.

Get a Magnemite, now you resist psychic just fine.
I would have said Gengar but psychic being super effective and and 3rd gen Shadow Ball being fucking physical doesn't help either.

This guy knows what he's talking about. Also, Gyarados learns Bite as soon as he evolves. I always stomped Fire/Leaf with Gyarados. You get him early and he stays good for most of the game.

Another option- Just train a mixed psychic type. They resist psychic attacks and everything.

I found that normal types were the best way to deal with them. Something with lot's of bulk and power. Snorlax, Tauros, Kangaskan. all are good choices. They can soak a Psychic and take them out with a body slam or hyper beam if you want to risk it.
