Can't learn Calm Mind, Nasty Plot, Sludge Bomb, Poison Jab either despite its dex entries and geneneration it was introduced, one of the first 3 gens and usually blessed with redundant and generally rich movepools, wise or random ones.
At least it does learn Toxic, pretty much one of its selling points.

No, that's objective. That animation really captures what the pokemon is about. Archeops is supposed to be a very primitive bird that's a shitty flyer and the XY animation portrays it as such. Meanwhile, that soulless Gen V animation just portrays it like a generic bird.

Fucking Dugtrio gets Hone Claws. And if you go the "hurf its claws are underground" then Meloetta also gets Hone Claws despite having no claws at all.

Mightyena has visible claws, I don't see why it wouldn't be able to hone them (like Absol, who learns Hone Claws and has an identical body shape to Mightyena.)

Though at any rate, not having access to a rather mediocre boosting move is the least of its problems.

I'll give you Meloetta but at least it's humanoid and seems like it'd be more likely to be able to sharpen claws.

Mightyena just feels too beast-like. It'll always have Moxie, one of the best abilities a physical attacker can get.

Let's not forget that some of the strongest moves in the game have perfect accuracy and ridiculous distribution. Earthquake, Close combat, Scald, Return. All of these moves completely outclass moves in the same typing giving you little reason to use anything else.

Give it 108/130/95/80/85/102 base stats, Ice Shard, and Swords Dance. Watch what happens.
Or just trade its Attack and Special Attack, toss it in the Dragon egg group, give it Curse, and let it inherit Extreme Speed from Dragonite. It'd be like Talonflame, only cooler.
