I have over 300 bred Pokemon and battle on cartridge, and no, there's absolutely zero reason to play singles on cartridge unless you enjoy the animations in crisp 20 fps, or you hate certain rules. (but enjoy sporespam and evasion)

I guess it feels more authentic.

VGC is a different story because there is a ladder and it's official, though you can still practice that on sim too.

sims don't just have OU rules, you know. There's even battlespot formats.

Literally the only reason to play on cart is for the pretty animations and official VGC events

Because if they did competitive would die. People don't want to have to rebreed/train shit because they want to try a different nature.

Every good comp player uses sims, there's no other way to quickly test new teams.

No I'm not. tournament attendance would drop. Sure there'd still be some big name players, but on average people don't have the time to spend on bike sim 2014 just to practice with a new mon.

Burden of proof is on you m8. Pretty sure showdown and any other sim is free, and the only possible source of revenue would be ads (which is chump change and probably barely overcomes the hosting cost.)
