Gamefreak wants to create a new type of pokemon to help balance the table a little bit more. You, a new developer who has recently been hired by Gamefreak, have been chosen to come up with an idea for this new pokemon type.

It'd be a heavily offensive typing that is shit defensively, overall making Fairy less good of a defensive typing and thus nerfing it.

Prior to Fairy, I'd have said split Steel into Mech (shit name, I know) type and Knight type, one is the good old defensive type we all know and love, whereas Knight gives Steels an offensive (Hon)edge and is super on Dragons. They're similar types like Rock and Ground.

But yeah, now all I want in the world is for Bugs to get a good boost, doesn't need a new type.

Here's the distinction: Magnemite, Mech
Bisharp, Escavalier, Knight

Some don't really go into either like Ferrothorn but whatever, I'm not Masuda. But yeah, design wise Steels are the most limited, most are just animals with metal armour, and I can't blame anyone, just doesn't have "element" thing that types like Fire or Water do so it's hard to base them on much.

Flavorwise it doesn't really make any sense, but I feel that a type with those qualities would do well.

I think a Chaos type would be neat. Not quite like psychic and not like dark either. It's got stuff like prankster moves, new chip debuff and some other fun stuff. It's not a great idea. :(

Symbiote Type

Based on the symbiotic alien life form from spider man. It attaches itself to a host, giving the host negative, or positive benefits. The symbiote types only purpose would be to buff other types. It would be mandatory for all symbiote types to have another type, because this ties into the buffing concept. The idea behind this type would be that it could enhance offensive and defensive capabilities, remove resistances, change abilities (of any pokemon, friend or foe), heal or transfer status conditions, and decrease offensive and defensive abilities as well. Each symbiotic pokemon has a form, and the form would determine what kind of buff you get. So defensive form symbiote would provide defensive buffs and debuffs, offensive form symbiotes would provide offensive buffs and debuffs. For example, Symbiote/Water type offensive form could buff a grass type and up the power, sp, etc, of grass type moves because plants need water to thrive (obviously). It could also buff ice and electric, providing more water for creating ice boosting the speed, power, etc of ice attack and providing a conductor for electricity (removing the electric types resistances.) Similarly, the symbiote/water defensive form could downsize the power of an incoming fire attack on a grass type, making it hit neutral, stuff like that. That would apply to all the other types.

Does super effective damage on normal types since lifeforms are especially susceptible to symbiotes

Resists nothing

Resisted by nothing as well, since symbiotes adapt and evolve.

Takes super effective damage from Psychic and Fire

Currently existing pokemon that could be made into this type.. Not too sure, I cant really think of any.

Symbiote/Psychic Offensive, Allows bug moves to hit neutral on fight and poison and enables x4 super effectiveness on dark and psychic.
Symbiote/Psychic Defensive Removes normal weakness to fight, but adds a weakness to fire, also removes fight weakness to fairy.

some are pretty obvious (Loudred, Chimecho), others not so much (some ghosts, maybe Wailord)

It's the best I could come up with, it may not balance the chart, but I'd like to think it at least makes sense

Wood type.

An offshoot of the Grass-type, Wood covers mons that are based on solid trees and branches rather than leaves and vegetation.

Wood would be Super Effective against:

Flying - bird vs. tree trunk

Rock - tree roots can crack apart concrete from below

Wood resists:

Fighting - punch a tree?

Water - same reason as Grass

Flying - bird vs. tree

Ground - same reason as Grass

Ice - Some trees are pretty hardy, and can withstand low temperatures

Wood is weak to:

Electric - Lighting strikes can destroy trees

Poison - same reason as Grass

Wood is resisted by:

Steel - Steel would be stronger, less prone to breaking

Poison - same reason as Grass

Water - trees don't do much to rivers or bodies of water. Most fish swim around them.

Wood takes neutral damage from:

Fire: trees burn, but don't catch fire as easily as you'd think.

Bug: insects live in trees, and most can't damage them too severely.
