I first want to say that gen 1 is my least favorite gen before any misunderstanding is had.

Now then. Will there ever be a pokemon as strong as Mewtwo was in gen 1? This is one thing I loved about gen 1 Mewtwo, he actually felt like a legendary due to his sheer strength above any other pokemon available. He was objectively the strongest pokemon at the time by a fuckhuge margin. I remember when Pokemon stadium had you chose 6 pokemon just to face one Mewtwo. THAT was power. THAT is the might of a legend.

Now of course in a generation thankfully more balanced...than it used to be anyway, and everything for the most part capable of being countered/checked by something, that same feeling of catching/using something of that pure might is gone. Legends just don't seem all that...legendary these days in comparison.

I wouldn't mind even just one obviously super powered pokemon that clearly stands above all others just to have that feeling that I really caught and am playing with something of legend.
